Placing dental implants and why you should not be afraid

Dental implants are becoming increasingly popular, and when you think of a tooth replacement option, you probably think of them right away. They have gained popularity and will continue as people understand how durable they are. In addition, they mimic the look and feel of natural teeth, which is a big plus. In addition, these small screws are so durable because they are made of titanium, which adheres well to the bone and creates a strong and reliable base for your future teeth.

Before you can get your new teeth at the  Dental Clinic Aleksandar Valev, you will have to go through a surgical procedure for dental implants. This is the reason why many patients give up fear because of the word surgery. When you actually understand what the procedure involves, you will find that it is nothing more than a routine and does not cause you any kind of unnecessary pain or loss of time.

If you want to discuss dental implants, contact our office today. At Alexander Valev Dental Clinic we are with you and we want to make sure that you feel calm and comfortable during the procedure.

REASONS FOR REFUSAL OF SURGERY

Many patients are frightened when they hear the word surgery and may want to move in another direction, but wait. At Dental Clinic Aleksandar Valev we want you to know that the procedure is not as bad as you think it is. Our dentist, Dr. Valev, is here for you. He is experienced, kind and considerate, so you have nothing to worry about. Below we will look at three reasons why a dental implant procedure should not scare you.

The whole procedure is planned.

This type of procedure is not the same as for a hospital treatment. In fact, Dr. Valev will have a three-dimensional surgical card that guides him at every step of the manipulation. The map was made using a three-dimensional X-ray examination of the teeth and bones to determine exactly where the implants should be placed. Dr. Valev will ONLY follow this map, so you have nothing to fear.

The local anesthetic is your friend.

If you are worried that you will have to undergo this procedure, take a deep breath now. In fact, dental implant surgery is performed in just one day and requires only local anesthesia to numb the site where the work will be performed. You will receive anesthesia for tingling before the procedure to feel comfortable.

If you have dental anxiety or are afraid to do the procedure, we offer additional sedation options in our office.

The pain is minimal and the discomfort is felt only slightly.

Patients who are not prepared for the procedure often think it will hurt them, but this is not the case. In fact, the procedure is quite routine in nature and is not performed without proper planning. There may be some slight discomfort in the first hours after the procedure, but you should not expect it. In fact, most patients do not experience any pain or discomfort, while some may feel little.

All patients describe implant placement as a less traumatic procedure compared to tooth extraction.

If you have any discomfort, we recommend that you take the over-the-counter painkiller to suppress the pain. If Dr. Valev deems it good, he may prescribe additional medication.

OVERVIEW OF THE PROCEDURE

Before you panic, we will explain everything you need to expect as you prepare to undergo the procedure. We believe that the more information you have now, the less you will worry when it comes time to sit in the dental chair.

PREOPERATIVE PREPARATION

The part before the operation is easy and also does not take much time. In principle, you will enter our office in Sofia and Dr. Valev will perform an examination and consultation. This examination will help us create this three-dimensional surgical chart and will order X-rays of your mouth to ensure the correct placement of dental implants.

During this time you will be asked if you have any questions and should address them immediately.

SURGERY DAY

You will be given a local anesthetic at the beginning. At this time, you will go through a procedure called site preparation. This is when the mouth is prepared to receive dental implants. Dr. Valev will present the surgical card and then follow it.

Small holes are drilled in your jaw after the gums are raised to reveal the bone. You may feel slight vibrations as the site prepares. The holes that are formed are in accordance with the length and diameter of the implant.

The implant will then be placed in the bone. X-rays will be taken after the procedure to ensure that all implants are placed correctly and finally the gums are sutured.

AFTER THE PROCEDURE

Once the operation is over, you will be able to relax and unwind. You must follow ALL instructions provided to you, not to miss them or forget about them. Remember that proper care of your dental implants is mandatory to ensure long-term and trouble-free use of your new teeth.

It takes about two weeks for the gums to heal, but it can take longer.
